NPR reports on the effort to pass criminal justice reform before Congress begins a “series of breaks” and the election season gets further underway. NPR quotes Mark Holden, the general counsel for Koch Industries, saying, “Hopefully they’ll get it on the floor early in the year because when we get into a, particularly a presidential election year, a lot of other things can come in to distract Congress it seems.” The piece says that while Holden “says he’s optimistic about the outlook” for a reform bill, others have expressed concern that the issue will remain unaddressed.
