During 2016 National Engineers Wee, more than 20 chemical, mechanical and environmental engineers from Flint Hills Resources and museum educators led 10 engineering activity stations throughout the the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. About 500 seventh-graders were invited.
Flint Hills spokeswoman Darcy Schroeder said the event is meant to get kids excited about science and engineering.
"We are teaching students everything from how to make a battery with a potato to ice cream with liquid nitrogen," she said. "We hope this gets kids thinking outside the box and thinking about a career possibly as an engineer."
