Koch Pipeline Company Employees Set Company Safety Record

10 Years (7 million work hours) without a lost-time incident

Employees of Koch Pipeline Company, L.P. have set a company safety record by working 10 years – which equals nearly 7 million work hours – without a lost-time incident. The milestone was reached March 29.

“I am honored to work with the men and women who achieved this milestone,” said Bob O’Hair, KPL executive vice president. “The achievement underscores our employee commitment to compliance excellence and 10,000 percent compliance.”

Koch Pipeline’s 200-plus employees work in six states and operate more than 4,000 miles of pipelines that carry crude oil, refined products, chemicals and gas liquids.

“We believe our safety performance is a key factor in our ability to serve our customers’ needs,” O’Hair said. “We also see that potential employees want to work for KPL because of our commitment to superior environmental, health and safety performance. The company has received numerous local, sate and national safety awards, as well as being recognized as one of America's Safest Companies by EHS Today magazine. In addition, operations at several facilities have achieved Voluntary Protection Programs STAR certification from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Koch Pipeline’s overall OSHA recordable rate — a safety benchmark — is 0.000, compared to the latest industry average of 1.9. When it comes to working without an injury resulting in time away from work, the company’s rate is also 0.000, compared to industry’s 0.50 average.

In the past year, Koch Pipeline has announced several expansions and arrangements to increase its pipeline capabilities, especially in South Texas. The company is currently constructing a new pipeline and station in Karnes County, Texas, to connect Eagle Ford producers with refineries in Corpus Christi.
