The Iowa Falls Volunteer Fire Department will upgrade their emergency services with the help of a donation from Flint Hills Resources. The department plans to purchase a state-of-the art aerial ladder truck, enhancing firefighter safety for Iowa Falls’ volunteers.
This is the second donation Flint Hills Resources has made to the department in 2013. Earlier in the year, the company donated funds for the purchase of new gear bags to store and transport firefighters’ equipment. In total, Flint Hills Resources donated nearly $5,000 to the Iowa Falls Fire Department in 2013.
“Volunteer firefighters play a critical role in the community,” said David Cotten, plant manager at Flint Hills Resources Iowa Falls. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to help the department purchase the equipment they need to keep Iowa Falls and our neighboring communities safe.”
The donation is part of Flint Hills Resources’ continued commitment to supporting local fire departments and first responders. In 2013, the company has donated more than $100,000 to local fire departments across the U.S. to enhance their operations.
“Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies is our number one priority,” said Rick Gustin, Iowa Falls Fire Chief. “With the help of community partners like Flint Hills Resources, we are able to provide the necessary services to protect the people in our fire district.”
An aerial ladder truck will allow the department to perform more rapid rescues and deliver higher volumes of water to quickly extinguish building fires.
