INVISTA Receives Innovation Upgrade Award From China Chemical Industry News

December 1, 2014

INVISTA, one of the world’s largest integrated producers of chemical intermediates, polymers and fibers, received the Innovation Upgrade Award from China Chemical Industry News for its outstanding achievement and constant pursuit of innovation and industry transformation.

The Innovation Upgrade Award aims to recognize those companies that make outstanding contributions in corporate responsibility, environmental protection, sustainable development, and safe and reliable operations.

In March, INVISTA broke ground on its new hexamethylene diamine (HMD) and nylon 6,6 polymer plants at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in China (SCIP). This strategic investment demonstrates INVISTA's commitment to its customers to develop the local nylon and polyurethane markets. The 215,000-ton HMD plant and the 150,000-ton polymer plant are expected to start up in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

In the past year, INVISTA also launched a carpet technology research and testing laboratory, as well as an applied technology laboratory to support the automobile, performance apparel and home textile industries. Both facilities are located at INVISTA’s Qingpu plant.

Together with its China Textile Research Center established in July 2012, INVISTA’s investments in innovation and technology can help the company better understand product performance; accelerate product development; and provide customers in the region with more efficient technologies, quality services and innovative solutions.

“We are honored to receive this award. INVISTA is committed to the Chinese market and we look forward to contributing to local, economic development with our innovative technologies,” said Julie Walton, director, Government & Public Affairs, Asia Pacific.
Built on a heritage of innovation, INVISTA owns or licenses more than 1,000 patent families and has 75 years of expertise in nylon technologies. In mainland China, INVISTA has manufacturing facilities in Qingpu and Foshan, and regional offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou.
