Koch Industries Awards $225,000 Grant to Kansas Hispanic Education & Development Foundation

Wichita, Kan. – Koch Industries, Inc. has announced a $225,000 grant to the Kansas Hispanic Education & Development Foundation (KHEDF) to fund scholarships and provide general support to the organization.  This will significantly help KHEDF fulfill its mission of providing opportunities for education and leadership development.   
 
The grant will provide funding beginning in the fall of 2015 for five $2,500 scholarships to be awarded each year for three years to Hispanic college students majoring in business or engineering. Scholarships are renewable for four years.

The 2015 scholarship recipients are:

  • Jose Cisneros, Wichita State University,
  • Samuel Covarrubias, Wichita State University,
  • Miguel Espinoza, Wichita State University,
  • Jason Karlin, Washington University in St. Louis, and
  • Paul Moran, Wichita State University. 

“We are impressed with KHEDF’s demonstrated history of providing access to educational opportunities for deserving students,” said Meredith Olson, vice president, public affairs, Koch Industries.  “We are eager to support these scholars as they reach their academic goals.”
 
“We are extremely grateful to Koch Industries and excited to begin this new partnership,” said Yolanda Camarena, board president.  “This grant will allow KHEDF to increase scholarships for students who pursue degrees in business and engineering. It will also provide seed money for the Foundation to grow as an organization and develop our education initiatives. As a result we will be able to make a significant impact on the lives of students and their futures.”
