Flint Hills Resources & Koch Pipeline Company Award Grants to Texas First Responders

December 5, 2016

HOUSTON – As part of their 2016 Helping Heroes program, Flint Hills Resources and Koch Pipeline Company have awarded approximately $200,500 to 57 emergency response organizations in central and southeast Texas.

“The Helping Heroes program is one way we support our local first responders,” said Richard Creamer, site director for Flint Hills Resources Port Arthur.  “Each day these dedicated individuals provide essential services to our community. It is nice to return the favor through this grant process.”

“This is a great opportunity to stop and say thank you to the men and women who risk their lives for the safety of our communities,” said Larry Van Horn, vice president of southern operations for Koch Pipeline Company. “As the Helping Heroes program continues to grow, we hope these funds will increase individual skills through training and provide the right tools for our emergency responders.”

Grants awarded in 2016 ranged from $1,000 to $10,000 and were determined by a team of internal safety professionals based on the specific needs submitted by applicants. Applications were accepted from June – August 2016. A list of grant recipients is provided below.

Flint Hills Resources and Koch Pipeline Company began the Helping Heroes grant program in 2012 to support Texas fire departments and emergency responders. The grants have been used for training, education, equipment, and emergency notification needs. Through 2016, the companies have awarded approximately $700,000 in grants across the state.
