Koch receives Military Friendly® designation for second straight year

November 15, 2016

Koch Industries was recently designated Military Friendly® by Victory Media, a leading standard for gauging companies’ commitment to members of the military, for 2017 – the second consecutive year Koch has received this distinction. While many companies are considered “eligible” for this designation, not every company meets the standards to bear the Military Friendly seal of approval.

The honor comes thanks in large part to the work military relations manager and retired U.S. Army Colonel John Buckley has done to make Koch Industries a welcoming workplace for military veterans, active reservists and their spouses. To earn this distinction, companies must demonstrate a commitment to embracing and enabling veteran employment.

“We thought this would provide a good analysis of our programs and additional ideas on what we might attempt to do in the future, so that really helped establish priorities for this year,” said Buckley.

And it’s all paying off. With endorsements like Military Friendly and programs like Koch Vets helping even more men and women transition to private sector roles, the company is on pace for a record year of military veteran recruitment.

“At the end of July of this year, we had already hired as many protected veterans as all of last year,” said Buckley. “Our total number of veterans to date, from January to the end of October, has grown by approximately 125 compared to last year. So, for me, this Military Friendly designation is validation of our programs.”
